SHILLONG: Meghalaya government has alerted all the deputy commissioners to be prepared for any side effects of Cyclone Fani.
A state government official said on Wednesday that after the damage in parts of the state due to cyclonic storm and rain recently, the state will have to be prepared for Cyclone Fani.
Though Cyclone Fani may not directly affect Meghalaya and the rest of the North East, there may be a threat of its impact in the region due to the geographical proximity of Bay of Bengal to the region.
The official weather prediction is that Fani will hover over west central Bay of Bengal and it may cross Odisha coast on Friday with a wind speed of 200 km per hour.
In Shillong, there was warm weather condition during the day coupled with heavy wind that uprooted some trees.
