CS to take up recruitment issue with Centre

SHILLONG: Chief Secretary PS Thangkhiew will forward the letter referring to the delay in recruitment of lower level staff in central government establishments in Meghalaya to the personnel department.
The city resident, Arju Dkhar, by filing a query under RTI application, has revealed that as per office memorandum of the Centre, the percentage of job reservation for scheduled tribes in Meghalaya in the central government establishments is 44 and there was delay in appointment for the last many years.
Thangkhiew said the personnel department will take up the matter with the Centre.
Earlier, based on the RTI reply, Dkhar had written to the chief secretary that the scheduled tribes in the state are entitled 44 per cent reservation of jobs for C and D posts with effect from July 2005.
Dkhar also wanted the Assembly committee on Scheduled Tribes to take up the matter with all the heads of the central departments having officers in Meghalaya to comply with the Central government’s order of July 2005.
