GSU wants appointment of locals

SHILLONG: The GSU has demanded immediate removal of non-local candidates from the posts appointed under National Health Mission (NHM)
Greneth M. Sangma, president, GSU, Mindikgre Regional Unit, said several candidates from outside the state were appointed ignoring the local Khasi-Garo candidates.
He demanded termination of service of presently appointed Dr. Ruby Begum, Biltu Kumar Dey, Eliash Hussain, Mozinur Islam and others.
They were appointed on contract basis under NHM.
According to GSU, Dr Begum is from Assam and anther non-local Dey was appointed to look after pharmacies under Rongara PHC.
Sangma rued that the local Khasi and Garo candidates were placed in the waiting list.
He alleged that many appointments were done prior to advertising the posts and cited the case of Eliash Hussain under Baghmara CHC.
