SHILLONG: The pass percentage of students in Garo Hills was disappointed yet again as most of the districts could not perform exceedingly well in the SSLC exam and none of the districts could even cross even 50 percentage.
In East Garo Hills district, the pass percentage was 40.34 followed by 38.17 per cent in West Garo Hills.
The pass percentage in South Garo Hills was 39.07 per cent whereas the percentage in South West Garo Hills was 25.92, adding the percentage in North Garo Hills was 36.32.
The percentage in East Khasi Hills stood at 74.94 per cent followed by West Khasi Hills which saw 68.90 per cent while Ri Bhoi achieved 71.38 passing percentage.

However, the results of HSSLC gave a complete different picture as in this exam, all the districts performed well and the pass percentage was quite satisfactory except for South Garo Hills where the pass percentage stood at 39.36. East Khasi Hills district with 88.78 per cent secured the highest pass percentage for the HSSLC Arts examinations followed by Ri-Bhoi district with 86.56 per cent. Others were West Khasi Hills 82.59, West Garo Hills 66.50 per cent, East Garo Hills 61.41 per cent, South West Khasi Hills 70.17 per cent, West Jaintia Hills 73.90 per cent, East Jaintia Hills 74.96 per cent, North Garo Hills 72.39 per cent and South West Garo Hills 54.42 per cent. However, it is worth mentioning that percentage varies in different districts. East Jaintia Hills has 595 candidates that appeared while 446 were declared successful. Again, South West Khasi Hills has 724 numbers of candidates that appeared while 508 candidates passed. Another district which has number of candidates below the 1000 mark is South Garo Hills with 968 candidates and 381 passed.
