SHILLONG: A day after Congress leader HM Shangpliang stated about exploring possibility of ‘connecting with friendly neighborhood’ to form a new Government in Meghalaya, the state president of the ruling NPP, WR Kharlukhi has slammed Congress leader for his statement about forming a Congress Government in the state.

WR Kharlukhi on Saturday said that the state congress at the moment could only sell dreams in order to keep their hopes alive and most importantly to keep their MLAs intact.

Kharlukhi while terming the assertion of Shangpliang as “desperate situation demands desperate comment” added that the Congress is already in a bad situation at the centre as well as in the state.

Pointing out that from 44 MPs in 2014 the congress is now with only 51 MPs in 2019 which is quite pathetic, Kharlukhi added that there are already rumblings in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka Congress and Meghalaya congress is no way an exception.

Stating that it is political theory to try to form a government but it is absolutely baseless for practical politics, Kharlukhi said that the congress should focus on the 2023 elections and work to prevent their flock from going astray.
