SHILLONG: The frequent transfer of government officials has irked the local group, Garo Indigenous Development Federation and it sought the intervention of the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in this regard.
The Federation said for the past many years, the organisation has not seen anything like this but it is shocking to learn how government officials are transferred without any reason or without completing their tenure.
The transfers are made within few months of their appointment which have affected the work.
The organisation wanted to know from the chief minister what is the reason behind the frequent transfers of officers.
The secretary of the organisation George Sangma also said in the past few months, many students had faced problems for registering the Scheduled Tribe certificates as the officer in-charge of the concerned department has been transferred to Khasi Hills without any reason before the Lok Sabha polls.
