SHILLONG:Governor Tathagata Roy, who addressed the gathering as the chief guest during the convocation function of the computer and language trainees of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong, stressed upon skill development among youth.
Roy told the gathering to understand both ‘skill’ and ‘development’. When asked about his vision for students of Meghalaya, he said he has very bright hopes.
While addressing the gathering as the guest of honour, Swami Vedatitananda from Kolkata, in his interesting speech, quoted Vivekananda and urged that “Western science coupled with Indian ethos should be our guiding motto.”
Prof SK Srivastava, who was also present as the chief guest in the afternoon, addressed the students by calling them “ignited minds” of our country.
During the function, the centre distributed about 2,178 certificates to the meritorious students of Computer and Language trainees of the institute.
Five computers were also awarded to meritorious students.
Earlier in his inaugural address, Swami Sarvabhutanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, declared alignment of the course structure of the institute with NSDC.
