GUWAHATI: Attending the first ever national logistics summit here, Assam’s Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that connectivity holds the key for sustainable growth and development of a nation.
The Minister added that Act East Policy has opened its doors to the vast potentiality that South East Asian region holds and called upon the investors to invest in the business-friendly state.
The Minister deliberated the various initiatives undertaken in Assam to improve connectivity in the form of road, rail, water, air and internet which would strengthen India’s relation and cooperation with neighbouring countries.
Minister Patowary added that Government will soon set up the first international integrated multi-modal logistic park (MMLP) at Jogighopa. The project would comprise of road, rail, air and waterways transportation facilities.
N. Sivasailam, Special Secretary (Logistics), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, said that the north-east regional integration for logistics is unique and hoped that the summit would help in developing the institutional structure of logistics and its processes and procedures at NER.
The national logistics conference was attended by manufacturers, exporters/ importers, custom brokers, airport terminal operators and representatives from various logistics trade associations.
