June 28 date for three Harijan Colony cases

SHILLONG: The three cases concerning Harijan Colony will be heard again on June 28.
During the hearing on Tuesday, the court of chief justice Ajay Kumar Mittal scheduled the cases for June 28.
The cases deferred were the contempt petition moved by Harijan Panchayat Committee against Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) official BS Sohliya and others for disturbing the Colony residents, review petition filed by the state government against the order of the single bench of the High Court of Meghalaya on entrusting civil court to settle the dispute and thirdly, the petition filed by the headman of Harijan Colony, Billu Singh, for not giving effect to the 1954 agreement executed between the Syiem of Mylliem and the Shillong Municipal Board.
As far as the petition of Billu Singh is concerned, an affidavit-in-opposition on behalf of the respondent has been filed.
For the contempt case by Harijan Committee, the Advocate General sought for time to file affidavit-in opposition.
Besides, the counsel for the respondent sought for further time to file counter affidavit regarding the review petition of the state government against the earlier order of the court giving relief to the residents.
