Internationl yoga day
SHILLONG: The Shillong Cantonment Board will celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21 at the Cantonment Board School playground. The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Cantonment, D. K diah informed that the programme will begin at 8 am.

Aroh observes Father’s Day
SHILLONG: The Aroh (A ray of hope) Foundation team, sponsored by the HDFC Bank conducted a programme to observe Father’s Day at Mawjrong, Laitkroh block, on Monday. Participants from 12 villages were invited. The programme was introduced by Project Coordinator A. Warjri. During the programme, A Sohtun, Facilitator narrated a story about a father raising a kid followed by a speech from the Project Manager, L. Marngar who spoke about the role of a father in the family and its significance.

Workshop on Rotavirus held
TURA: A day-long workshop on Rotavirus vaccination was organised for medical staff of South Garo Hills at Baghmara on Tuesday, wherein the dangers for children from the disease and ways to prevent it through vaccination were discussed. Rotavirus, a highly contagious virus, is the most common organism that causes diarrhoea in children which may lead to death.

Demand for new power line
TURA: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC), Dalu Unit on Tuesday met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and submitted a memorandum highlighting various issues concerning the area that called for his attention.The setting up of an additional 33 KV power line from Chiringpara (Ampati) 132 KV via Purakhasia to Dalu Sub-Division (MeECL) was one of the issues raised by the committee in the memo.
