KHADC wants Harijan Colony land returned to Hima Mylliem

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has said that the land at Harijan Colony should be returned to the Hima Mylliem following the decision of the High Level Committee (HLC) to relocate the residents.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, KHADC Executive Member in charge of Land Titosstarwell Chyne said a condition in the agreement between the Shillong Municipal Board and the Hima Mylliem states that if the land is no longer utilised, the latter has the right to take it back.
The KHADC held a meeting with the acting Syiem, Ainam Manik Syiem, along with Myntris of Hima Mylliem.
Stating that the Council can also make suggestions to the HLC, he said the land at the Harijan Colony belongs to the Syiem of Hima Mylliem which falls under the jurisdiction of the KHADC.
Not elaborating any further, Chyne said there will be another meeting on Harijan Colony which will be attended by Myntris of Hima Mylliem and others besides leaders from the KHADC.
According to him, the land at Harijan Colony should be returned to the Hima Mylliem on the basis of understanding with the KHADC, Hima Mylliem and the state government.
