SHILLONG: IIM Shillong on Friday held its 12th inauguration ceremony to welcome the new batch of 2019-21.
The ceremony was attended by CEO and MD of ABP Group DD Purkayastha as chief guest and Ajeya Bandyopadhyay, Partner, KPMG Advisory Services as guest of honour. Admissions Chair Prof. Sharad Nath Bhattacharya and PGP Chairperson, Prof. Basav Roychoudhury congratulated the new batch for being admitted as participants and shed light on how the Institute will be instrumental in shaping their future.
Prof. DP Goyal, Director, IIM Shillong, said, “We need to shape all these raw diamonds into polished diamonds who will become global managers. Focus of the future managers is not just on pay packages but the value that they will be able to provide to their employers.
The goal is not to just become global managers, but to serve the society. You will also need to take time out and experience the life in North East and all that it has to offer in terms of learning.”
Bandyopadhyay said that the consulting world has evolved and the big firms feel the need to partner with the smaller boutique firms to avail their specialised skill set to serve the clients.
The new batch of students will commence their foundation course on sustainable development considered as IIM Shillong’s innovative academic approach in the coming week.
