DC invites consumers, MePDCL for talks

Mawkyrwat: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills (SWKH) Isawanda Laloo has invited the officials of the MePDCL as well as the agitating leaders of the Mawkyrwat Electricity Consumer Forum (MECF) for talks regarding the locking of the FEDCO and MePDCL office at Mawkyrwat to protest against the handing over of electricity services to the Odisha base-firm.
After the MECF locked the office of MePDCL Revenue Section at Mawkyrwat, the Chief Engineer (Commercial) MePDCL, Lumjingshai, Shillong, EB Kharmujai wrote a letter on June 20 to the Deputy Commissioner of the district requesting her to intervene and initiate further talks to allow the MePDCL office to function normally.
Therefore, the DC had recently invited the officials of the MePDCL and leaders of MECF to attend the meeting on Thursday at 1:00 PM in her office chamber at Laitlawsang to discuss about the implementation of Input Based Distribution Franchise in the district in light of the objection by MECF.
The officials of the MePDCL, who are expected to attend the meeting, include the Director (Distribution), Chief Engineer Distribution/Commercial and Assistant Engineer, MePDCL Mawkyrwat, etc.
Meanwhile, the leaders of MECF will be led by the Chairman Wallambok Syiemiong and Secretary Deling Snaitang.
