SHILLONG: The owner of a gym club is on the run after allegedly assaulting the owner of a city hotel.
Jainal Uddin, owner of Galaxy Hotel in Thana Road, lodged a complaint that on Sunday around 7 am, Raju Baruah, owner of the Gym Club located in the same building, assaulted and abused him at his hotel.
A case has been registered but the accused is absconding, police said. According to the police, Baruah assaulted the hotel owner after being denied a room in the hotel.
The CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media. This is not the first time that Baruah has landed in controversy. In 2012 he was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution ring in his hotel. The manager of the hotel was also arrested later.
