Amrit Cement clarifies on detention of labourers

SHILLONG: Amrit Cement has clarified that the labourers who were recently released from confinement, were not directly engaged and managed by the company, a statement issued here informed.
One Jay Prakash Patel of Rajasthan, a third party contractor supervised the labourers. The company has made regular payments to the contractor and accordingly contractor has made payment to the labourers.
Due to some issues between contractor and labourers, the contractor wanted to change some workers which created a misunderstanding between them which led them to wrongly inform authorities that the company’s employees had detained them.
The company has assured all the labourers its full support in realising their payment.
The labourers have also given a similar statement about this misunderstanding before the magistrate.
