US envoy apprised on issues faced by FKS

SHILLONG: John F Kharshiing, Chairman, Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya and Adviser & Spokesperson, Federation of Khasi States (FKS) apprised the US Ambassador to India, Kenneth Juster about the challenges faced by the Federation of Khasi States and the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, on Wednesday during an informal meeting over discussions on cultural, historical, and geo political landscape of the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo tribes, a statement issued here informed.
Kharshiing also mentioned that the Council Chiefs who are yet to get their treaty mentioned within the Constitution of India are in constant conflict with central laws.
He also handed over a copy of the Instrument of Accession (IOA & AA) of Federation of Khasi States signed and accepted by the Government of India on August 17, 1948 and other relevant documents to the US Ambassador on his maiden visit to the city.
