SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has constituted the Committee on Law and Traditional Affairs headed by Bindo M. Lanong.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, KHADC Chief Executive Member Teinwell Dkhar said that the committee will follow up on the many pending bills passed by the KHADC in previous years.
“The conflicts pertaining to legal matters will be minimised and the committee will see whether certain bills can be improved or re-tabled,” he said. The committee will have legal advisor Robert Kharjahrin, Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat and August Shangpliang as its core members.
Dkhar informed that the committee may cop-opt members as well.
Dkhar also informed that there are 39-40 bills passed by KHADC since 2000 and are lying either with the District Council Affairs Department or with the office of the Governor.
