Ontario: As the worlds leading cricketers battle for glory in the Global T20 championship in Canada, the tournament being North Americas first professional cricket league has made major inroads in driving the cricket craze in the continent.According to the latest official figures in the GT20 Official Mobile App, as much as one fourth of its user activities were generated in Canada, where cricket was once a popular sport before it was overtaken by hockey.Topping the chart for usage and interaction via the official mobile app is India at 35 per cent of users, followed by Canada at 25 per cent and Pakistan at 20 per cent. As for the remaining 20 per cent of total users, these cricket enthusiasts are from around the world. “It is our aim to deliver a unique and signature event in Canada. We are extremely pleased that we are making inroads into bring cricket back home,” said Gurmeet Singh, Chairman of Global T20 Canada. (IANS)
