Centre assures help to Arunachal

Itanagar: The Centre has assured Arunachal Pradesh government to provide assistance to strengthen the livestock and fishery sectors including setting up of mithun and yak rearing centres, official sources said on Thursday.
The assurance came from Union Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh during a meeting with the state’s minister Tage Taki recently in New Delhi.
Singh asked the state’s animal husbandry and veterinary, dairy development and fisheries minister to set up an extension centre of Mithun Research Centre of Nagaland in Arunachal Pradesh. Mithun is a large domestic cattle found in Northeast India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and China.
The union minister also assured him to take care of the research requirements of mithun in the state.
The Union minister agreed to provide assistance to the hilly state to boost the livestock and fishery sectors. (PTI)
