Man gets RI for raping eight-year-old

NONGSTOIN:  The District & Sessions Judge cum Special judge (POCSO Act), West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin convicted 38-year-old Banri L Lyngkhoi of a village falling under Nongstoin PS for raping an eight-year-old girl on February 2018.
Lyngkhoi is to be imprisoned for a period of ten years and a fine of Rs 10,000 under section 5(m) POCSO Act punishable under section 6 POCSO Act 2012.
Police said that on February 25, 2018 the accused led the victim to the forest. One of her cousin of the same age also followed them but the accused sent her away by giving her Rs 10.
A woman who was washing clothes nearby also saw the three of them going towards the forest but later saw only one girl returned back.
On seeing this, the woman asked the girl to informed the mother of the victim that the accused had taken her to the forest.
But at that time the girl was staying with her aunt. The aunt went to search for her eight-year-old niece in the forest. Then she heard her crying and that was when she found the accused committing the crime.
