Ambassa: In a one-act play Bishop’s Candlesticks, the Bishop turned compassionate enough to declare the convict stealing his candlesticks as his friend. Likewise, in Ambassa railway station merchant Sanjoy Debnath acted as Bishop by requesting cops to leave the thief for his future as some of the stolen money got recovered in Dhalai district here on Thursday.
Thefts occur in the station shops in broad daylight. In one such incident, merchant Sanjoy found a boy running out from his shop. He got hold of the boy and took him to the police. He reported that around Rs 1900 was missing from his cash box.
On searching, the OC found Rs 1250 from the boy’s shoe. He was identified as Ajoy Debbarma (19), a mason by profession.
Sanjoy then requested the police to let the boy go with the intention of safeguarding his future. (UNI)
