SHILLONG: Opposition chief whip and Congress legislator P T Sawkmie has asked the headmen to keep vigil along the inter-state border after over 19 lakh persons from Assam were left out from the final NRC list. Sawkmie said on Saturday that the state government should alert the headmen in the borders to prevent any spillover effect.
The headmen and the border residents should cooperate with the government as the deployment of security forces alone cannot ensure peace and tranquility in the border since there is already a fear psychosis.
