SHILLONG: The CBI is scrutinising the documents which were seized from the three departments of NEIGRIHMS during their surprise checks on Friday.
Sources informed that the CBI conducted surprise checks in central government institutes across the country, including the three departments of NEIGRIHMS — including Cardiology, Orthopedics and Radiology—on Friday.
They said the CBI did not conduct any search in CTVS department as reported earlier. The checks, the sources said, were carried out to see if medicines, implants etc are being given to patients as per the guidelines and rates of the Centre.
The agency is expected to complete scrutiny of the documents in a week’s time after which necessary action will be follow, the sources said adding FIRs would be filed if there is any foul play. According to sources, the CBI conducted the checking in NEIGRIHMS along with the vigilance team of the institute.
Meanwhile, the sources also said that if people feel there is any corruption in any central government institutes and offices in Shillong, they don’t need to approach the state government but can directly contact the CBI office here.
