GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed the officials of State Labour Welfare Department to take necessary steps to include the mobile theatre artistes under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana in a bid to ensure secured future for them.
The Chief Minister while reviewing the implementation of the scheme also asked to extend the benefit of the scheme to ASHA, Anganwadi Workers, weavers and workers of the unorganized sector who earn less than Rs. 15,000 per month.
It is to be mentioned that PMSYM is a periodic contribution based pension scheme. Under PMSYM scheme, unorganized workers in the age group of 18-40 with income not exceeding Rs. 15,000 will get assured minimum amount of Rs. 3000 per month as pension at the age of attaining 60 years if they opt for the scheme. PM Kishan Maan-Dhan Scheme and pension for small traders were also discussed in the meeting.
Chief Minister Sonowal directed all the departments involved in the implementation of PMSYM to give adequate focus to ensure effective execution of the scheme. He stressed on the need to generate extensive awareness at the grassroots so that people engaged in the unorganised sector get maximum benefit of the scheme.
He directed Finance, Agriculture and Labour Welfare department to work in a coordinated manner in this regard. Chief Minister Sonowal also instructed the departments to adequately highlight the features of swacchta and Fit India Movement while carrying out awareness drives.
