Tura MGT auditions on Sept 7
TURA: Organisers of the popular talent show — Meghalaya’s Got Talent, season 4 — have informed that auditions for Tura contestants will be held at the Tura District Auditorium on September 7. Prior to this, several auditions were held across Khasi and Jaintia Hills districts at different dates in the month of August. While the screening of contestants for Garo Hills region is taking place in Tura on September 7, the audition in Shillong will be held on September 14. It may be mentioned that the popular talent show carries cash prizes of Rs 2,00,000, Rs 70,000 and Rs 30,000 for the winner, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively. The registration fee for solo contestants is Rs 100 and Rs 200 for group contestants besides participation fee of Rs 1,000 for all categories.
Employees’ body elects members
TURA: The Non Gazetted Employees’ Association (NGEA) of the GHADC has elected new office bearers to lead the body after the term of the earlier members expired. The association elected Ellora marak as president, Letharson Ch marak as vice president, Brithen M Sangma as secretary, Korak G Momin as joint secretary, Sengmilla Ch Momin as accountant, Minthu M Sangma as treasurer and Balseng M Sangma as adviser besides 8 other members.
District Kiosk Centres set up
SHILLONG: The Chief Executive Officer, Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare has informed that the District Kiosk Centres for registration of beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in convergence with Megha Health Insurance Scheme – Phase IV have been identified and set up in all the district headquarters which will function as registration centres for the entire policy period of PMJAY and MHIS IV. The District Kiosk Centres in East Khasi Hills have been set up at SNA MHIS, DHS, Health Complex, Laitumkhrah and Civil Hospital, Shillong. District Kiosk Centres have been set up in East Jaintia Hills at DM&HO Office, Khliehriat, in West Jiantia Hills at DM&HO Office, Ladthalaboh, Jowai, in Ri Bhoi at DM&HO Office, Nongpoh, in West Garo Hills at District Maternity & Child Hospital, Tura, in East Garo Hills at DC Office, Williamnagar, in South West Garo Hills at DM&HO Office, Ampati, in West Khasi Hills at Old CHC, Nongstoin, in North Garo Hills at Resubelpara, CHC, in South Garo Hills at Baghmara Civil Hospital and in South West Khasi Hills at DC Office, Mawkyrwat.
Sahkhar clan holds general meet
SHILLONG: The Sahkhar Clan Organisation, Headquarters Shillong, held its General Meeting at Umpling, Shillong, on Ausgust 24 and discussed at length on the very sensitive issue of the murder of a member of the clan, (L) lohbianghun Sahkhar, by some anti social elements on June 6 after which her body was found inside a private forest at Umbir Village, Ri Bhoi District. The members present in the meeting, both young and old took active part in discussing the serious matter. The meeting expressed condolences to the family members of lohbianghun Sahkhar. The clan members remembered Sahkhar for her courage and bravery and for being a role model for the Sahkhar Clan and the Society.
Camp on child rights violation
NONGPOH: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi informed that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) will conduct a camp for taking up grievances pertaining to violation of Child Rights at the District Library Auditorium, Nongpoh on September 26 from 9 am onwards. For registration of grievances, the public have been requested to contact the BDOs of Umling, Umsning, Jirang and Bhoirymbong C&RD, District School Education Officer, Sub-Divisional School Education Officer, DM&HO, Medical Health Officers of CHCs & PHCs, DSWO, Dep Labour Commissioner, District Programme Officer, ICDS (Cell), CDPO of Umsning, Umling and Jirang, District Child Protection Officer & JJ Kylla, Child Welfare Committee, Ri Bhoi District.
Foundation day-cum-Teachers’ Day
SHILLONG: SPARK, a social service organisation, will organise a programme on the occasion of its 5th Foundation Day along with Teachers’ Day celebrations at the Raj Bhawan Hall in the city on Wednesday at 11.15 am. The organisation will observe the occasion with underprivileged children from slums and remote villages along with invitees from various government departments, NGOs and students from colleges and universities. The chief guest for the programme will be the Governor of Meghalaya, Tathagata Roy. Special guests for the day will include the Superintendent of Police (city), S. A. Rynjah, MPS, and Meena Kharkongor, Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Meghalaya among others.
