Sports Council workers on indefinite strike

SHILLONG: The casual employees of State Sports Council, Meghalaya are on indefinite strike starting from August 27 demanding a hike in their salaries. In a statement issued here, the employees said they have approached the officials of the department who have informed them that the department has no funds.
“Our demands are not unreasonable but it is as per the notification of the Labour department,” they said.
The employees have also met Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh but asserted that their salary remains the same.
