Plastic ban in Sohra market from Sept 23

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has decided to ban plastic in Iew Sohra (Sohra market) with effect from September 23.
The decision was taken in a meeting held on Monday and attended by the Syiem of Hima Sohra, Freeman Syiem, the Executive Member of Market, Jambor War and MDC from Sohra Titos Chyne.
War said that the plastic ban will be implemented by the market committee of Hima Sohra and defaulters will be punished as per the Plastic Waste Management Rule 2016.
Chyne has urged the people of Sohra to comply with the KHADC orders.
