SHILLONG: The Dorbar of Syiem of Hima Mylliem has issued an order to all the traditional heads such as the Syiem Raid, Lyngdoh Raid, Bongthe Raid and headmen to be vigilant about any infiltration within the jurisdiction of shnong/raid and other scheduled areas of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
In a statement issued here, the Dorbar of the Syiem of Hima Mylliem said it received a letter dated September 12 from the Secretary to the Executive Committee, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Shillong in relation to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) following the release of the final list of NRC by Assam.
The Dorbar has warned of strict action to be taken against the traditional heads by the KHADC and the office of the Syiem of Hima Mylliem in case the traditional heads issue a certificate to any alleged illegal immigrants to settle down.
The acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem raised concern over the infiltration into the tribal areas as a large number of alleged illegal immigrants numbering about19 lakh were left out from the NRC which will pose a danger to the state.
The office of the Dorbar Hima Mylliem also said that individuals should inform the nearby police station and the Deputy Commissioner in case they come to know of any illegal immigrants.
