MAWKYRWAT: The chairman of the Consumer Protection Cell of the the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Mawkyrwat Circle, Pulljohn Wanniang, has questioned the work of the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), which was formed a year ago, at the district-level.
He said the evil of drugs keeps spreading its tentacles in the area because the police are not serious about tackling the menace.
Wanniang said that the union, in its continuing crackdown on drugs in Mawkyrwat area, apprehended four drug dealers and addicts from Umjarain village on Friday night.
He informed that the four persons viz. Khrawbok Mawlein, Darles Mawlein, Lateilang Lyngdoh Sangriang and Banteibor Nongsiej were apprehended by the members of the union from Hotspring-Umjarain road while they were on their way after buying drugs from other suppliers.
“After apprehending them, we immediately informed the police who also seized about 8 grams of suspected heroin from their possession,” Wanniang said, adding that this is the second time the union had apprehended Khrawbok.
