Fake currency notes worth over Rs 1 lakh seized

SHILLONG: The BSF apprehended a Bangladeshi national with fake Indian currency notes (FICN) worth Rs 1, 06,000 on Tuesday.
On receiving a tip off, the BSF troops conducted a search along the international border and apprehended Bhola Sangma (68) of Anandopur village, Sunamganj in Bangladesh.
The man was carrying 53 pieces of Rs 2000 currency notes which he had wrapped in polythene and concealed in his innerwear. A mobile phone and two Bangladeshi sim cards were also recovered from him.
Sangma revealed that the notes were handed to him by one Insan Ali of Monia Gaon, Sunamganj and he was to deliver it to an Indian national.
The apprehended person along with the currency notes was handed over to Ranikor Police. It is likely that more names will come up in the FICN rackets.
