TURA: The Anti-corruption and Human Development Organization (ACHDO) from Garo Hills has sought the blacktopping of the 4 Km stretch of road that connects the AMPT Road (Gini Mill, Phulbari) to the PWD Road at Charbatapara.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the organisation stated that the road is essential to the region as many people from villages like Bholarbita, Bangalkata, Borsibanda, Moulakandi, Haribanga, Charbatapara and others prefer the route to go to Phulbari due to the extremely pitiable condition of the AMPT Road.

“This road which is preferred by the general people is very difficult to pass through during rainy seasons as it gets very muddy. Some parts of the road have also been eroded in the recent floods and it is badly in need of repairs. Besides, blacktopping of the road would also save time and money for the villagers as it is much shorter,” the ACHDO said.

The organisation while informing that some portions of the Moulakandi PWD road is also in need of immediate repairs has urged the government to constitute a committee to conduct a survey of all PWD village roads and initiate repairs wherever necessary.
