Earthquake preparedness mock drill in Nongstoin

NONGSTOIN: A school mock drill on earthquake preparedness was organised by the office of the District Disaster Management Authority, (DDMA), Nongstoin in collaboration with Sibsingh Memorial Govt. Higher Secondary School, Nongstoin on Wednesday.
The main objective of the drill was to acquaint teachers and students on various aspects of school safety.
It was inaugurated by J Mawthoh, DDMO, DDMA, Nongstoin,  who emphasized on the need and importance of such training programmes on disaster management.
Mawthoh also called upon all stakeholders especially the youths to join hands together in an effort to collectively participate in the event of a disaster.
He urged all the trainees to disseminate whatever they had learnt to their near and dear ones, and to the community at large so that people would know what to do when faced with an emergency situation.
The mock drill also touched on school disaster management plans, emergency methods of search and rescue, roles and responsibilities of school disaster management teams and first aid.
