TURA: Desrang B Sangma was the young warrior at the festival who participated in a competition.
This is the first time that the 10-year-old ‘Garo warrior’ from Sasatgre participated in the festival.
“I said I want to protect my motherland,” Desrang said shyly when asked about his brave speech during the competition.
Desrang loves to dance and wants to participate next year, too.
The second day of the festival saw tug-of-war, drum beating and other traditional competitions.
Rungala, the rice beer mixing ceremony, was also part of the second-day celebrations.
The final Wangala dance will be on Saturday and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will attend the programme.
