Attack on GH cafe owner: One arrested

TURA: A couple who used unprecedented violence and brazenly attacked the owner of popular Red Door cafe in the heart of Tura on Saturday, merely because he was driving slow and unable to give them way to overtake on a steep climb, has been hauled up by police with the husband getting arrested.
The turnabout came after the victim and young business entrepreneur Brendon W Momin filed a police report against his assault late Saturday night.
“We imediately registered a case and the accused Adolf Hitler Sangma was arrested on Sunday itself. Since it is a bailable case he has been granted bail by the court. His wife has also been served with a notice to which she has complied with” informed West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police MGR Kumar.
The wife, Sonam Odriyana G Momin is a teacher in the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Tura. She has allegedly not attended classes remaining absent from school for much of last year.
The district police chief also stated that the Mahindra Thar Jeep used by the couple in their assault has been seized and compounded for violation of several vehicle laws.
The Thar Jeep ML-08 E 4747 did not have the mandatory high security registration plate and was without any number at the back. It also had tinted glasses and a bullbar attacked to its front which is banned under law.
Meanwhile, the accused woman has filed a counter case against the cafe owner at the Women Police station accusing him of showing indecent gestures to the both of them while overtaking leading to the alleged brawl.
