Shillong audition for global music fest today

SHILLONG:  As many as 13 music bands from Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura will perform during the Shillong auditions for the Rhythms and Aromas of Northeast at the Crinoline Swimming Pool on January 7.
Bands selected from the auditions will undergo intensive mentorship by industry experts and get a chance to perform with music legends of Asia at the 4th Guwahati International Music Festival 2020, informs a statement here on Monday.
The bands/artistes who will be competing at the auditions in Shillong on Tuesday are The Megh Band and solo artist Gammi Nasi from Arunachal; E-Tribe, Larger Than 90, Pharia, Remainders, Rolling Stone, At The Rate No, Thunders Cave, Necroscope, Route 44 and Neelabh Agarwal from Meghalaya and singer and songwriter, Aben from Tripura. The first state-level music audition for artistes from Assam and Nagaland was inaugurated in Dimapur on December 30, 2019. The second leg of the auditions was held in Aizawl on January 4, 2020.
After the Shillong auditions the final round of auditions will be held on January 10 at Ukhrul, Manipur where artistes from Manipur and Sikkim will participate.
Eastern Beats Music Society – a prominent socio-cultural organisation working for promotion of Northeast culture and establishment of new vistas with other countries, especially Asia – had recently announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind pan-Asian music project, ‘Rhythms and Aromas of Northeast India’.
Under the project, being held with the support of the North Eastern Council, Shillong, the society is calling for auditions from talented artists and musicians from eight states of Northeast India to be a part of a unique exercise which will culminate with the Guwahati International Music Festival 2020.
