GUWAHATI: A delegation of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) committee for Meghalaya is likely to visit Shillong later this month for discussions on the state’s preparations for the National Games 2022.

“We received information yesterday that the IOA committee has proposed to visit Shillong on January 23 and 24, 2020. Confirmation is awaited from the state government on a mutually agreed date,” John F. Kharshiing, the working president of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), told The Shillong Times on Tuesday.

The IOA committee will meet officials of the state government, department of sports and MSOA during the visit.

Kharshiing had attended the annual general meeting of IOA in New Delhi on December 30, 2019 where IOA officials sought clarification regarding a date for the discussions to be fixed by the Meghalaya government.

The MSOA working president clarified during the AGM that a detailed report had been submitted and that owing to certain issues the meeting could not be held earlier. However, he informed that state government has invited the committee to visit the state after January 15, 2020.
