BJP leaders urge Union Min to sanction projects

SHILLONG: BJP MLA, Sanbor Shullai and state BJP president Ernest Mawrie and a host of other BJP leaders and members from the state recently met Union Tribal Affairs Minister, Arjun Munda and urged him to sanction projects related to tribal tourism.
Shullai later said that their request included development of Orchid Polo for creation of more jobs besides revenue generation.
In addition, the BJP MLA also sought his support to develop Seng Khasi Mawkhar and Raid Laban Cultural Centre to promote indigenous  Khasi culture.
The state president has sought Munda’s intervention to help the newly joined  BJP MDCs of JHADC get development schemes as they have raised their concern to the state BJP that they are not getting the required support from the central schemes.The matter regarding the MDC’s concerns were also reported to Ram Madhav.
The minister has given assurances that he will hold discussions on the matter with the Chief Minister.
He also gave his assurance stating that he will give special consideration to projects submitted by BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai.
The leaders also discussed various affairs related to the state and sought adequate central support for various projects funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for overall development of the state.
