State releases Rs 45 crore for JHADC

SHILLONG: The state government, in the financial year 2019-2020, has released Rs 45 crore for the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, during his visit to Jowai on Tuesday, met the JHADC CEM and discussed about the financial situation.
“We have decided to have a meeting with all the different departments and discuss matters related to the district,” he said.
The chief minister also informed that the state government has almost cleared all the dues for this year financial year.
During the meeting, the district council said that they are yet to receive pending amount from the state government for financial years ranging from 2013-14 to 2016-2017.
”We need to verify this and we will look into the matter,” Conrad said, even as he added that Finance department has been asked to deliberate on the matter.
The JHADC, during its meeting with the chief minister, also asked for interim arrangements with regard to pending funds, however, the government assured of examining the matter.
