Bad road condition irks locals

SHILLONG: The bad condition of the road from Mawsynram in East Khasi Hills till Balat in South West Khasi Hills, which gets problematic and risky during rainy days, has drawn flak from the people.
In this connection, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Dangar Balat Border Circle has written to the executive engineer of PWD.
The HYC circle stated that the road is small and landslides are a frequent occurrence during rainy season.
Again, the plying of heavily-loaded trucks along the Mawsynram-Balat road also pose a threat to the people.
The HYC circle has alleged that the contractors working on the road are careless and use materials that are not meant for road construction.
