Banks offer financial support to 1700 families in GH

TURA: Banks under Dalu Block have been able to support around 1700 families by offering financial assistance to a total of 170 Self Help Groups (SHG) promoted by the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS).
This was revealed during a Credit Camp organised by the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS) in collaboration with MRB and MCAB Bank in Dalu Community and Rural Development Block recently. The camp was attended by Branch Managers of both banks, officials of MSRLS and Self Help Group members.
During the camp, MSRLS officials informed that the two banks have been able to provide financial support to 40 SHGs during the camp. The two banks in the block have been able to support and finance about 170 SHGs promoted by MSRLS and an average of 1700 families have been benefitted with an amount of Rs. 1.60 crore through credit camps in Dalu Block for the financial year 2019-20, the officials added.
The MRB Branch Manager shared that the Bank is very happy to be able to support women empowerment through financial inclusion under NRLM however adding, that the main person to do it is the woman themselves.
Meanwhile, the Branch Manager, MCAB, Dalu said that in order to become independent financially a person needs to work hard and upgrade their skills of livelihood and sociable person as well.
He also requested that they share success stories of the SHG members with others and motivate them. He also informed the SHG members about Financial Literacy including different types of loan available in the banks.
