Coronavirus threat prompts suspension of Sunday services

SHILLONG: Several churches in the city are temporarily closing its doors in its bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Garo Baptist Church Shillong has notified its members that general Sunday services, Sunday school, youth and women fellowships will be suspended till March 31. The members can conduct the family worship and prayers at home, it added.
The Nonglum Presbyterian Church in its church committee meeting held recently has also resolved that all services and meetings of the church will remain suspended with immediate effect till March 31 as a mark of responsibility and co-operation with government advisory seeking to contain the spread of the virus.
Moreover, the meeting also encouraged all its members to pray for God’s protection of all the citizens in the state as well as the country and the whole world from this deadly disease.
