City house gutted in fire

SHILLONG: A residential house was completely gutted in a major fire incident at Lumshyiap, Nongmensong. The fire broke out at around 3 pm on Sunday.
Police confirmed that there were two tenants living in the house and short circuit was the cause of the mishap.
The house was occupied by the two tenants – Biku Sarki and Hira Maya Thapa. Quick response from the neighbours stopped the fire from spreading further.
Mon Bahadur Sarki, husband of Biku Sarki, sustained minor burn injuries.
The fire was doused and brought under control by the time the fire fighters had arrived.
