SHILLONG: Many city based medical shops did not cooperate with the direction of the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate on Sunday.
The owners of several pharmacies closed their shops in Police Bazar, Mawkhar, Jhalupara and other adjoining areas.
A few medical shops in Laban and one in Rilbong catered to the needs of the patients.
Garbage
During a tour to some parts of the city, garbage dumped on the street was noticed though there was no holiday for the essential service of Shillong Municipal Board and others.
Besides the Municipal Board, the district magistrate, in a notification issued on Saturday, had reiterated that the services of Health Department, MeECL, PHE, PWD, Police and Armed Forces, Fire Service, Food & Civil Supplies Department and Telecom Department are included in the list of all essential services and the services are expected to operate to the optimum.
