Mobile medical team for police launched in WJH
JOWAI: Mobile Medical Team for police personnel under West Jaintia Hills District Executive Force was launched on Saturday. The team comprises of one doctor, nurses and an assistant with a driver. The team will move around the police stations, outpost and even CIC in the district for medical check-up of the police personnel, who had been working amidst the lockdown. “This time, coronavirus has put more load in our duty, and I want each and every boy in the field to be healthy so that they can help others,” said SP, WJH, Lakador Syiem, who also thanked the doctor and her team on duty, including health departments. The team also conducted a medical check-up on the day of its launch.
NEEPCO advisory
SHILLONG: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has advised all its operating power plants to get in touch with the local administration. In a statement, NEEPCO has “also advised (them) to extend all possible assistance to the local administration for helping the communities around the plant/project areas in terms of essential medical supplies, dry ration and ambulance, etc.” NEEPCO has also instructed all the plant heads to take care of the employees.
DC issues guidelines for Ri Bhoi
Nongpoh: The Deputy Commissioner (S), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, RM Kurbah, has issued guidelines for the opening of shops with effect from March 30 to 31 and April 1 until further orders. The guidelines have been issued after “it has been observed that for the last 3-4 days, grocery shops, vegetable and meat vendors, local taxis and auto rickshaws including the public, were seen to violate the curfew order and restrictions on the hours fixed by the undersigned for opening of grocery shops”. “Further, it was so reported that several shops started opening right from 6:00 AM in the morning, which is again in violation of this office order. Furthermore, social distancing was not maintained by the public,” the statement said. “No other grocery shops, street vendors or any other roadside shops selling any item, will be allowed to be open. Violators shall be strictly punished as per law. No shop as notified above shall open before 9 am or after 1pm. Violating of timing will result in the shopkeeper being arrested,” the statement added. Banks and Treasuries will be open on March 30 and 31 in view of the financial year ending. In another statement, the deputy commissioner has informed that application for car passes will be done through www.ribhoi.gov.in or www.megedistrict.gov.in.
Village durbar distributes essentials
NONGSTOIN: The village durbar of Upper New Nongstoin on Saturday distributed essential commodities as a relief to nine houses in the locality. HH Marwein, Headman, Upper New Nongstoin, said that after the lockdown, most of the families in the village have been badly affected with the day labourers being stopped from working. He said that those nine affected families were listed after a survey held. The durbar distributed 50 kg of rice and other essential commodities to each house.
Seng Khasi Kmie appeal
SHILLONG: The Seng Khasi Kmie has appealed to its branches and circles in the Khasi Hills to strictly adhere to the orders and guidelines issued by the central and state governments. It has also called for postponing programmes, which involves large gatherings, till further orders from the government. The organisation had, on March 24, performed rituals at Lum Sohpetbneng seeking protection from the menace of coronavirus.
Curfew imposed in SWKHD
Mawkyrwat: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo, has imposed curfew in the district with immediate effect till Monday 6 am. The DC also said that relaxation for market areas and regulation of the same will be informed through a separate order. “Any citizen in distress or in need of essential provisions and otherwise aggrieved by this order may call District Control Room 6909904336/6033162971,” Laloo said. Meanwhile, The office of the Deputy Commissioner, SWKH District, will roll out the following e-curfew pass online application for the officials/citizens in availing the e-curfew pass through online mode without visiting the office of the Deputy Commissioner. However, Laloo has strongly warned that any misuse of the system or attempt to fake passes will invite penalties as per law. The DC also said that due to poor internet connectivity in Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, the locals of the area, who cannot access internet, may approach the SDO Civil Office, Ranikor.
