KHADC passes interim budget

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has passed the vote on account budget 2020-2021 amounting to Rs 81,21,54,400 at the special session convened on Tuesday.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) Titosstarwell Chyne presented the vote on account from April 1 to June 30. In view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19, the MDCs also maintained social distancing by ensuring they were separated by a gap of one chair each and the MDCs from the ruling and opposition sat in the same row and there were no sides. CEM while presenting the budget said that allocation for General Administration Department is Rs 10,59,45 690, Law department is Rs 14,22,480, Revenue and Finance department is Rs 1,84,78,300, Forest department is Rs 2,04,75,050, Administration of Justice and Judicial department is Rs 1,12,53,240, Legislative department is Rs 1,66,19,300, Education department is Rs 3,31,360, Civil Works & Development department is Rs 62,50,59,500 and Rs 1,25,69,480 for Enforcement Scheme for Protection of Tribal Land & Interest respectively.
Chyne said that the special session was necessitated to regulate the salaries of the council staff, Executive Members, Chairman, Deputy Chairman and the other MDCs as well as other developmental activity.
