SHILLONG: Despite the lockdown in the state, there has been a number of fire incidents, mostly forest fire, at various locations in and around the city, most of which are caused due to lighting of fire and leaving it unattended, the Superintendent of Police (F&ES) said.
In a press statement issued here on Monday, the SP informed that this may be done by some miscreants on purpose or due to ignorance which either way could lead to disaster.
“While the state is working continuously to prevent the possible outbreak of COVID-19 for the safety of the people, the Superintendent of Police (F&ES) requests all the Rangbah Shnong, Rangbah Dong and Secretary Shnong of the respective localities to be vigilant and prohibit people from venturing out into forest areas within their jurisdictions,” the statement read.
Further, the SP also prohibited random smoking at public places and starting of unwanted fire in order to mitigate loss of life and property due to fire-related disaster.
