SHILLONG: The Principal Secretary, State Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department has informed that as per consolidated guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the shops dealing with food, groceries, fruits and vegetable, milk, meat, fish, animal feed and fodder, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and shops of agriculture machinery, its spare parts and repairs, and veterinary hospitals, dispensaries and clinics both in public and private sector will remain open during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Though other states are following the directive of opening shops daily, the state government has allotted only few days.
When contacted, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner M War said particular shops have been kept open on days identified as per the statement.
As earlier announced, the shops will remain open on Tuesday from 9 am to 4 pm.
