DC issues prohibition order under 144 CrPC in WGH

TURA: In view of the first case of Coronavirus being detected in the state in East Khasi Hills District, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh on Tuesday issued an order under section 144 CrPC  together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Disease, Covid-19 Regulations, 2020, prohibiting certain activities in the district.

Under the order, prohibition has been issued against opening of wine shops and bonded warehouses, inter-state and inter-district movement of vehicles, operation of all markets and all commercial establishments and the assembly of 5 or more persons in all public places and residential localities beyond individual households.

However, the order will not be applicable to Security forces, medical teams and pharmacies, MePDCL, PHE and PWD departments, Fire and Emergency services, Food and Civil Supply Department and FCI staff, TMB, Telecom, Telegraph communication and IT Services, NIT, Print and electronic media, Banks, ATMs and postal services, vehicles carrying essential commodities, food items, medical equipments and home delivery, community delivery vehicles with valid passes issued by the district administration.

The order comes into force with immediate effect and will remain till 6 am of April 15.
