MAWKYRWAT: The youth wing of HSPDP Mawkyrwat unit on Monday donated money and rice to six families having at least one person with disabilities (PwDs) at Jakrem village in South West Khasi Hills.
Speaking to media persons, HSPDP youth wing president, Kyrpang Erius Syiemlieh informed that the donation to the families of the PwDs was part of the efforts initiated by the party to try and help the needy affected by the lockdown.
“We have decided to donate to these families because we understand the plight of people with disability and how much difficulties they must be going through due to lockdown,” Syiemlieh said.
The members also acknowledged that they have missed several families. The party said that it could help families who were distressed and needed help immediately.
A beneficiary couple, Theodosia K Syiemiong and Smorland Iawphniaw (visually impaired couple), said, “It is very difficult for us to go out during lockdown to buy essential commodities, so I would like to thank those who extended help to us.”
