Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Tuesday was surprised to learn that the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplied to the Medical Teams are unfit to attend COVID-19 patients and supply of such sub-standard ‘protective’ equipment in this situation is a crime against humanity.
In a release NPCC President K Therie hoped that the specifications given by the Department were for FFP-3 or N95 masks, but sub-standard materials being delivered to Nagaland and said that the Government should come out clearly before the public to explain that who is responsible for this supply.
The NPCC president said that he understand that the State still does not have the facility to admit even one Covid-19 patient and has to be sent to Guwahati. It has exposed complete inability of the Government. The truth was exposed this morning by a local daily newspaper. The Government has recently assured on the state-wide preparedness in the state, which was a lie to the people.
Therie said that the “Dimapur Civil Hospital was vacated to be converted into a 100 bedded COVID District Hospital quiet sometime back. China has constructed 10,000 beds in 10 days. Nagaland cannot convert the existing rooms and beds to receive even one Covid-19 patient.
It is said, COVID-designate District Hospital for Dimapur is in a pathetic condition. Even the so called VIP room is unfit. What the Government has been doing all these years has been exposed.”
“‘Block-B’ construction is another ‘High Court’ or ‘Indoor Stadium.’ The up gradation project for which the Government has paid more than Rs. 15 Crores does not look worth more than Rs. 5 crores. All the photos of the Chief Minister and Health Minister in the recent local news reports claim they are working hard all this time, It is shocking that knowing fully; they have accepted sub-standard qualities of PPEs. They are also fully aware of the unprepared Hospital beds. This is a shame before the Nation, he said. (UNI)
